Open Call for Dance Film Artists
Scenkonst Sörmland invites dance film artists from the Nordic and Baltic regions to take part in the Dance Film Symposium during Dance Film Days 2026 in Eskilstuna, Sweden. The symposium offers a space for artistic exchange, collaboration, and inspiration through screenings, labs, and shared explorations of dance and film.
Scenkonst Sörmland is pleased to announce an Open Call for five (5) dance film artists to participate in an international symposium taking place during Dance Film Days in Eskilstuna, Sweden, on 21–23 May 2026.
We are seeking artists who are currently based in one of the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and Åland) or the Baltic countries (Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania).
Selected artists will:
• Present their dance film and screen it during a public showcase.
• Lead a 1.5-hour lab or workshop with the other symposium participants, sharing artistic methods, ideas, or practices.
• Engage in dialogue, exchange, and collaborative exploration with fellow artists.
Our aim is to create a meeting point and network for dance film artists, where participants can connect, explore, and grow together.
Conditions
• Each selected artist will receive an artist fee of 500 EUR, which also covers film screening rights during the two festival days.
• Travel and accommodation in Eskilstuna will be covered by Scenkonst Sörmland.
• By applying, artists also agree that short excerpts from their film may be used in the official Dance Film Days 2026 trailer.
Application Requirements
Please include the following in your application:
- Dance film submission (full version for selection; send link or transfer).
- Proposal for your 1.5-hour lab/workshop during the symposium, including a short description of focus, aims, and any specific technical needs.
- Artist statement and a short presentation text about yourself and your dance film.
- Images: one photo of you as an artist, and one still image from the film.
- Contact details and current address.
